Thank you for your insightful comments on my post – success does boil down to focusing on the task at hand. I appreciate both the encouraging words and the nudge to get out there and become visible. You are an example of how to go about consistently interacting, putting in the time and genuinely connecting with people through Twitter and social media – and comments like this one. You post a steady stream of fascinating articles and useful tips via @brainwavetweets (brainwave architect).
BTW – Have you ever thought of teaching other people your social media /social connecting “system”?
My best to you,
Louise
]]>I would love to have been in that auditorium with you and Seth Godin! My introduction to Seth Godin’s work, by the way, came about when I wanted to name my business “Purple Cow”. I thought it was a wonderful and unique name … and I was crushed to discover that Seth beat me to it. Though it’s a wonderful book and high time I re-read his ideas on how to be REMARKABLE in business…

I think many times when we are under stress or duress, we tend to get “stuck” looking at everything from our own perspective, and at that point it’s next to impossible to connect. In job interviews, for example. This is why I write about Open Focus, a practice that gets you unstuck and opens up your awareness so you’re relaxed and connecting with others. The mirror neurons have space to work their magic!
When Seth released Linchpin, he held an event in NYC that I attended. It was amazing with several hundred attendees at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He greeted everyone personally as they entered the auditorium and each person received a copy of the book.
It truly is mind-grabbing, affirming, and stoking! Your review carries the message, as linchpins are supposed to do. Great read, ~Dawn
]]>Louise- bravo on the great article and video post. There is a lot of truth here. Seth gets down to basics- in a fast paced information overloaded world- he does what he has to do- which is to focus on the task at hand.
This is an example of how the truth is so simple- yet we tend to cover it up and make it complicated.
Having said that, I believe when internet commerce is involved, you have to spend time putting yourself out there. Yes- you need a great product or service, but without people finding out about you, how far can you really go? This is where organization and discipline come in.
All the best,
Lynn
